Overview

RewriteCmd is a macOS application that rewrites text using AI. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do.

What We Don't Collect

• Your text: RewriteCmd sends your selected text directly to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Mistral) using your own API key. We never see, store, or process your text.
• Your API keys: API keys are stored locally in your macOS Keychain, encrypted at the system level. They are never transmitted to our servers.
• Keystroke data: We do not log keystrokes. The global hotkey listener only detects your configured shortcut.

What We Collect

• Anonymous analytics: We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand page visits on our website (rewritecmd.com). This is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies or track personal data.
• Purchase information: If you purchase a Pro or Business license, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your email and payment details. We store your email and license key to manage your subscription. We do not have access to your full payment details.
• Update checks: The app may check for updates by contacting our server. This request contains only the app version number.

Third-Party Services

RewriteCmd connects to the following third-party services:

• AI Providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Mistral) — Your text is sent to the provider you select, using your own API key. Their privacy policies apply to that data.
• Stripe — Payment processing for paid plans. Stripe's privacy policy.
• Vercel — Website hosting and anonymous analytics. Vercel's privacy policy.

Data Storage

All user preferences and API keys are stored locally on your Mac:

• API keys: macOS Keychain (encrypted)
• Preferences: macOS UserDefaults (local)
• Custom instructions: macOS UserDefaults (local)

No user data is stored on our servers, except your email and license key if you purchase a paid plan.

Children's Privacy

RewriteCmd is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
